Procedure for Cord Blood Collection and Banking
The process of collecting your baby's stem cells couldn't be simpler. Once the baby is born your midwife or another healthcare professional can perform a safe, painless collection from the umbilical cord, where the blood is rich in stem cells.
Future Health provide everything needed for this process in the collection kit which you will receive before the birth. As the collection is taken from the umbilical cord it is completely non-invasive and poses no risk to either mother or baby.
Once the collection has been made, you return the cord blood to us via our pre-paid courier. We will then assign it with a unique bar code and process it for storage.
If you need to use the stem cells in the future, you simply contact us and give us the details of your doctor and hospital. We will then arrange cryoshipment (to maintain the frozen samples) of the stem cells to your chosen hospital.
