Stem Cells are already being used to treat genetically inherited diseases.
In 2004 a six-year-old boy born with diamond blackfan anaemia was cured of the disease after receiving a transplant of stem cells from his baby brother's umbilical cord blood.
Future Health was the first family cord blood storage facility in the UK to be accredited by the UK Department of Health. We recognised the opportunity to store cord blood from one child in order to assist another member of their family to receive stem cell in combat of an illness.
