Introduction
As a Healthcare Professional specialising in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology, you will probably already be aware of the advancement in the science of using of umbilical cord blood stem cells to treat different cancers, immune deficiencies and genetic disorders.
This section of the site is dedicated, primarily through use of animation, to describe the complete process of cord blood stem cell collection, but also to reassure you that your responsibility ends once you have made the collection.
Everything you need from the cord blood collection bag with two needles to sterile scissors is included in the collection kit, which will be provided by the parents. After the collection, the sample is handed back to the parents who will then organise the return of their child's cord blood to our processing and storage facilities in Nottingham.
